Code of Conduct
The Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) is committed to providing a professional, respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, organizers, and guests participating in CISSE events, activities, and related communications, whether in person or online. CISSE events are hosted within academic environments that encourage open discussion, collaboration, professional networking, and the responsible exchange of ideas related to cybersecurity education, research, and practice.
Expected Conduct
Participants are expected to:
- Conduct themselves professionally and respectfully
- Foster constructive academic and professional dialogue
- Respect differing viewpoints and experiences
- Comply with applicable laws and host institution policies
- Use appropriate language in presentations
- Respect venue property, staff, and shared spaces
CISSE conferences maintain a welcoming academic atmosphere. Business casual or casual attire is acceptable unless otherwise specified for particular events or functions.
Unacceptable Conduct
Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
- Disruptive, threatening, or abusive behavior
- Personal attacks or sustained hostile interactions
- Unwanted physical contact or inappropriate advances
- Deliberate disruption of presentations, workshops, or event operations
- Recording or distributing private conversations without consent
- Conduct that violates host institution policies or applicable laws
Reporting Concerns
Participants who experience or witness behavior inconsistent with this Code of Conduct are encouraged to notify CISSE organizers or conference leadership promptly. All reports will be handled respectfully and reviewed in good faith.
Enforcement
CISSE organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action in response to violations of this Code of Conduct, including warnings, removal from conference activities without refund, or restriction from future participation. By participating in CISSE events, participants agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and contribute to a respectful and collaborative professional environment.
