Executive Director, Center for Cyber Excellence, Liberty University

Liberty University, one of the largest Christian universities in the world, is seeking an Executive Director to lead the University’s School of Business Center for Cyber Excellence which serves 1,300 cybersecurity students.

The Executive Director will provide exceptional leadership and overall direction for the Center’s faculty and academic programs. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with university administration, faculty, and staff to advance the reputation of the School of Business in both public and private sectors of education. The university is experiencing unparalleled growth with more than $500 million in construction projects planned and underway. During this unique and exciting time, the Liberty University School of Business Center for Cyber Excellence requires a visionary Executive Director who will lead the center to a new level of academic excellence, national influence, and institutional prestige. The Position

The Executive Director is responsible for the attainment of all institutional goals and objectives for residential and online cybersecurity programs in Information Systems, Information Technology, and Computer Science. The Executive Director oversees student outcomes in accordance with the university’s mission and strategic vision. The Executive Director provides operational direction and oversight and is accountable for administrative and financial performance. It will be essential for the Executive Director to maintain effective relationships with the School of Business, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and relevant accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies to fulfill expectations for quality assurance and compliance. Building strong and collaborative relationships within the institution and with the education community at large will be necessary to represent the Center effectively with both internal and external constituencies. The Executive Director must be highly visible to all levels of the community and routinely interact with constituent groups, including the advisory board directors, students, alumni, faculty, staff, administration, government officials, regulators, community, educational institutions, and media. Responsibilities Reporting to the Dean of the School of Business, the Executive Director is responsible for the administration of and development and implementation of academic programs for the Center and for aligning with the School of Business and the university. The Executive Director communicates the vision and goals of the Center to both internal and external constituents. S/he also creates and sustains partnerships with external systems.

The incoming Executive Director will:

  • Be responsible for the Center’s strategic planning, program evaluation and development, alumni engagement, fundraising, enrollment, retention, student persistence and completion, market planning, interdisciplinary initiatives, and the management of the center’s administrative and financial affairs
  • Provide leadership for the development of curricular initiatives, training, recruitment and retention of high-quality faculty, staff, and student talent
  • Work closely with the local, regional, and national education communities to support collaboration and the growth of the cybersecurity programs
  • Attract high-quality faculty, staff, and administrative support personnel
  • Overseeing collaboration with other educational institutions, from K12 through graduate schools
  • Broadly oversee certification and accreditation matters and lead the development of new curricula and programs
  • Maintain a 4/4 teaching load
  • Strengthen existing and build new community partnerships and collaboration agreements

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges facing private, faith-based education in an increasingly secular environment. The successful candidate will be a person with a deep, personal faith who enthusiastically embraces the university’s mission of training champions for Christ to positively impact the world.

The Executive Director position requires:

  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution in information technology, information systems, computer science, or related field of study
  • Significant graduate study and/or equivalent experience in cybersecurity (15+ graduate hours preferred)
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship and a strong capacity for facilitating collaboration within the University community and among external partners and stakeholders
  • Strong background in administration of certification, designation, and accreditation standards
  • Established record of effectiveness at the department level or beyond, with experience in strategic planning, budgetary management, administrative processes, academic policy, fundraising, faculty and staff recruitment and retention, and fiscal sustainability
  • Commitment to faith integration with academic programming
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills
  • Business acumen and proven ability to successfully manage departmental budgets
  • 5+ years cyber leadership in business or engineering school, government sector, or business
