Assistant or Associate Professor Cyber-security, National University

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems in the School of Engineering and Computing at National University, California, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in its Cybersecurity program

at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is for the San Diego, California campus. Candidates with background, focus and expertise in one or more of the areas such as Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Networking, or Ethical Hacking are of particular interest but strong applicants from all areas within Computer Science or Information Technology are encouraged to apply.

National University is the second-largest, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning in California and the 16th largest in the United States. National University is recognized by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense Education. Excellence in teaching and rigorous assessment of programs and teaching are highly valued and pursued in the university. The School of Engineering and Computing offers graduate and undergraduate programs in Cybersecurity in both online and onsite mode.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses mainly in Cybersecurity at undergraduate and graduate levels in both onsite and online formats in a one-course-per-month accelerated teaching format, including evening and Saturday instruction
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity instructional materials
  • Maintain a productive personal scholarship goal of research and publication
  • Support the National University Center for Cybersecurity
  • Actively engage in service at the department, school and university levels

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D./DSc in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a closely related discipline with a specialization in cybersecurity, information security, network security or related work experience
  • Demonstrated or Potential for excellence in teaching and program management
  • Willingness to educate the local community about cybersecurity and internet security threats
  • Demonstrated or Potential for scholarship in research publications
  • Demonstrated or Potential for exemplary service at the professional, university and/or community level

Qualifications considered pluses

  • Industry certifications such as: CISSP, SANS GIAC, CEH, CISM, CISA
  • Cybersecurity work experience
  • Leadership role and experience in the cybersecurity community
  • Experience developing cyber-security related labs
