23rd Colloquium - Using Gamification and the NICE Framework to Prepare the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Professionals

Our planning committee works to finalize headcounts and prepare for our pre-conference session from Circadence, titled, Get Gamified: Using Gamification and the NICE Framework to Prepare the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Professionals. This workshop is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2019, and will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Join Dr. Dan Manson ( Lecturer, CU Boulder) and Brad Wolfenden (Director, Cyber Academic Partnerships, Circadence) for an interactive workshop on gamification, cyber ranges, teaching and learning for the next generation cyber professional, and the NICE Framework. Whether you’re a K12 teacher and are looking for fun and engaging ways to introduce cybersecurity or university faculty and leveraging virtual real-world environments to reinforce the conceptual/ theoretical learning with technical skill development, this session is for you!

Agenda

  1. Part 1: Gamification! What is it, and why should I care?
  2. Part 2: Project Ares (Media) as a learning and teaching platform (live demo and discussion)
  3. Part 3: Group break outs, and a lesson planning exercise using exercise using Circadence’s Content Library and the NICE Framework

The Colloquium's goal is to work together to define current and emerging requirements for information assurance education and to influence and encourage the development and expansion of information assurance curricula, especially at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
