In 2000, The Founders Award was the first award given by The Colloquium™ to a nationally recognized "thought leader" and practitioner of Information Security education. Since then, The Colloquium™ has expanded award recognition to honor cybersecurity leaders across Industry, Government and Academia.
Annual Awards
We are proud to have been the first organization to formally acknowledge our peers in these key areas; hence, we are pleased to announce a call for nominations for our 2023 Annual Awards, to be presented at the 27th Colloquium. This is an opportunity to nominate an individual who you consider to be recognizably influential on the national stage in cybersecurity education. It is important to consider that your nominee's accomplishments in the field should reflect a national impact.
Academic Leadership Award
The Colloquium awards the Academic Leader of the Year Award to an educator whose actions have distinguished them from among their peers. This individual is a person who goes above and beyond helping their students to academic success, while positively impacting the educational community nationally, and in some cases internationally.
Industry Leadership Award
The Colloquium awards this to a Corporation, or Business professional who has distinguished themselves above their peers in both leadership within the field and their efforts measurably supporting Cyber Security Education.
Governmental Leadership Award
The Colloquium awards this to the Governmental Agency, Government Representative or Employee that has distinguished themselves above normal expectations in working with the Cyber Security Educational community.
Board of Directors
The organization's annual Board of Directors Election has three spots open for re-election. The Colloquium™ is a volunteer-led and governed non-profit corporation, and Board members do not receive any compensation. If you would like to run for a three-year term on the board, please review the following description of duties and responsibilities.
Board members are expected to attend two regular virtual meetings per year, one in June and immediately following the conference in November. In the meetings we hear reports of officers and committees and act on proposals submitted in advance. However, most of our work is done in committees between meetings. Directors are expected to serve on one more committee. Committees collaborate electronically (telephone, e-mail, shared cloud, etc.) and Directors can expect to spend several hours per month on Colloquium business. This will include preparing for meetings by reviewing the contents of the meeting folder (call of the meeting, agenda, minutes of the previous meeting, reports, proposals) and publishing their reports and proposals in advance.
With the assistance of the officers and an audit committee, Directors are expected to conserve the assets of The Colloquium™ and plan, authorize, and review expenditures. While they are ethically responsible to the constituents or members, Directors are protected from financial liability by customary Officers and Directors Insurance. Directors may be authorized from time to time to speak for or otherwise represent The Colloquium™, but they are expected to preserve the confidentiality of the Board necessary to its deliberations. Directors are expected to avoid any potential conflict of interest and may be asked to sign an agreement that clarifies this.
